Feathers ‘n Fur Wildlife Rehab Team is an all Volunteer Non Profit Rescue and Rehab Group. We are located in Twentynine Palms, California where we serve our High Desert Communities. We offer an important, unique service to our area, especially since the nearest Rehab Facility is over 100 miles away! Our facility cares for injured and orphaned wildlife through to their release. We also provide shelter for those who can not be freed. These well cared for ‘permanent’ residents are for training and education! Here are a few of our Feather ‘n Fur guests….
White Pelican in the Desert
This is a White Pelican that was found on Lear Ave in Twenty-nine Palms. Conni was coming home from dinner and saw the pelican in the middle of the road, with wings spread and bill open, very distressed. The bird was quickly loaded into her truck and brought to the facility. Upon primary exam, blood was found on the birds right breast. There were three puncture wounds, one was the size of a nickel! Bleeding was controlled and the wounds bandaged. The bird was stabilized, then transported to the Sony Bono Wildlife Refuge at Salton Sea for release.
